The exquisite scraped glaze decoration is well preserved, the famille rose glaze is vibrant, the gilding on the rim shows slight wear, the glaze is glossy, and the foot shows natural wear; it has not been chemically cleaned. Formerly in the private collection of Richard Carter of Dallas, Texas, USA, acquired in the 1990s, it was a family heirloom. Never publicly auctioned, with no exhibition or publication record. Description: A fine porcelain water pot used in a scholar's study during the Qianlong period. The pot has a rounded body, a narrow mouth, and a solid, white, and delicate body. The exterior is decorated with a dense scraped glaze scroll pattern on a red glaze base. The four sides of the pot are left white, decorated with famille rose floral patterns representing the four seasons. One side depicts orchids, lotuses, and various other flowers, with a dragonfly in flight; the brushstrokes are delicate, the color gradations subtle, and the patterns clear. The interior is covered with a soft, emerald green glaze. The base is stamped with a four-character square seal script mark in underglaze blue reading "Made in the Qianlong Period" in a bright green glaze. This piece combines the techniques of scraping, gilding, and famille rose painting, making it an exquisite example of imperial scholar's porcelain from the Qing Dynasty's high-end period.
