拍品描述
Dimensions: Height 14.5 cm, Width 15 cm. Condition and Provenance: The lid is intact, the Qilin knob is undamaged, without cracks or missing parts. The glaze and cobalt blue decoration are well preserved, and the unglazed base exhibits a natural earthy patina due to long-term ownership. Originally from the private collection of William Collins of Dallas, Texas, USA, acquired in the 1970s, and subsequently inherited by his family. Never publicly auctioned, with no exhibition or publication record. Description: This is a Ming dynasty porcelain round covered box with a perfectly sealed opening. The top of the lid is decorated with a three-dimensional Qilin knob, the Qilin standing tall and proud, its posture lifelike, with detailed depictions of its mane, limbs, and tail. The surface of the lid is painted with a flying dragon motif in underglaze blue, its body shrouded in clouds, its scales and claws clearly visible. The rim of the box is decorated with a diamond-shaped floral pattern border. The outer wall of the box is entirely painted with surging wave patterns, the smooth and delicate lines outlining the rolling waves. The cobalt blue pigment presents a rich, deep blue hue, adorned with natural rust spots. The brushstrokes are vigorous and powerful, unrestrained and free. This piece can serve as an exquisite vessel in a scholar's study, used to store seals and rare items, combining both decorative beauty and practical function.
