专场: Asian Art Auction (Part II)
拍品描述
Dimensions: Height 32.4 cm. Condition and Provenance: Complete and intact, without cracks or damage; the yellow-green glaze is well preserved; the base shows signs of natural aging. Formerly in the private collection of James Wilson of Dallas, Texas, USA. Acquired from the European art market in the 1980s, it is a family heirloom and has never been publicly auctioned, exhibited, or published. Description: A fine imperial porcelain vase from the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, shaped like a gourd: the upper part is round, and the lower part is square, symbolizing "heaven is round and earth is square," a typical characteristic of Jiajing Taoist porcelain. The slender neck is decorated with banana leaf patterns. The upper gourd is yellow with green-glazed lotus scroll patterns. The bright yellow ground contrasts sharply with the vibrant green glaze, and the brushstrokes are fluid and powerful. The base has a blue square frame containing the six-character mark "Made in the Jiajing Reign of the Great Ming Dynasty." The gourd shape symbolizes wealth and status, and combined with Taoist imagery, it represents high-grade royal decorative porcelain influenced by Ming Dynasty court Taoist culture.
