专场: Asian Art Auction (Part II)
拍品描述
Dimensions: 26 cm high. Condition and Provenance: Perfect condition, no chips or cracks, natural crazing in the glaze, slight wear on the rim and foot. Formerly in the private collection of Robert Cole of Dallas, Texas, USA. Acquired in Hong Kong in the 1990s, it is a family heirloom and has never been publicly auctioned, exhibited, or published. Description: A beautiful Ming Xuande period blue-and-green glazed plum vase. The vase has a small mouth, short neck, wide shoulders, and tapers downwards, typical of early Ming imperial plum vases. A deep sapphire blue glaze forms the base, decorated with vibrant turquoise enamel painting, creating a striking color contrast. The neck is decorated with delicate patterns. The shoulders and body are decorated with clearly defined banana leaf patterns, with finely depicted veins. The entire body is decorated with a continuous lotus scroll pattern, with blooming lotuses meandering among the curling branches and leaves, creating a balanced and dense composition. The base is inscribed with a double-ringed underglaze blue mark reading "Made in the Xuande period of the Great Ming Dynasty." Blue-ground green-glazed porcelain is a rare achievement of the Xuande imperial workshops, representing the outstanding craftsmanship of polychrome porcelain in the early Ming Dynasty.
