拍品描述

Dimensions: Height 28 cm (11 1/8 inches), early 15th century, Yongle period (Ming Dynasty). Condition and Provenance: Condition: Complete and undamaged, without cracks or signs of repair. The cobalt blue glaze is vibrant with characteristic iron rust spots; the glaze is smooth and glossy. Unglazed flat base, thick body, with the patina and signs of age. Provenance: Private collection, Paris, France. Acquired in 1951, consigned for auction by the family in 2026. Description: A fine Yongle period plum vase. The mouth is short and narrow, the shoulder is rounded and full, gradually narrowing downwards. The neck is decorated with ruyi-head patterns containing composite floral motifs. The entire body is painted with a scrolling peony design, the flowers large and beautifully complementing the graceful foliage. The foot is decorated with scrolling grass patterns. This vase is painted with imported cobalt pigment, "Sumali Blue," resulting in rich layers of color and visible natural iron precipitates within the glaze. Complete Yongle blue and white plum vases are extremely rare. With its balanced composition and skillful brushwork, it is a representative work of official kiln porcelain during the Yongle period.
