The base calligraphy mark is crisp and complete, foot rims show no wear-through or later restoration, 100% original condition. This set was originally collected by a vintage Jingdezhen porcelain enthusiast, later consigned to an Asian antique gallery in Dallas, Texas, USA, and is currently housed in a private literati porcelain collection in San Francisco, California. California, New York and Texas are top global trading hubs for Chinese Ming and Qing porcelain works.Description: This matched set of lobed square plates represents premium 20th-century Jingdezhen literati porcelain craftwork. Each dish adopts a soft four-lobed square shape with elegant rounded edges, set against smooth jade-like white glaze and fine dense porcelain body. One plate features a squirrel and wolfberry motif rendered in underglaze blue and copper red: layered varying shades of cobalt capture the fluffy fur texture of the squirrel, yellow enamel accents highlight its eyes and ears, while copper red creates vivid ripe wolfberry fruits with bold, freehand ink-style branches. A small square cobalt seal stamp sits at the lower right corner. The companion plate depicts a lively chick beneath wolfberry foliage, balanced sparse and dense brushwork inherited from traditional Chinese freehand flower-and-bird painting. The painting strokes are unrestrained and concise, merging fine ceramic craft with authentic ink painting aesthetics. The underside of each plate bears neatly inscribed cobalt script “Zhuxi Daoren” within a square border, paired with a matching square artist seal, the classic signature format of Chinese literati porcelain. These wares are fired with dual underglaze color techniques—cobalt blue and copper red—both color layers locked permanently under glaze with no fading over time. Complete matching pairs of this design are quite rare on today’s art market. They serve as perfect decorative table pieces for tea room display, while functioning as museum-grade reference specimens for studying 20th-century Jingdezhen literati underglaze painting techniques and fine art aesthetics, highly sought after by American and international collectors of Chinese antique porcelain.
