拍品描述
Measurements: Rim diameter 15.5cm (6.10 inches), total height 6.8cm (2.68 inches), 12-13th century Song Jian kiln tea wareCondition & Provenance: The bowl is fully intact without cracks, chips or missing glaze. Only faint natural wear exists on the rim edge. The persimmon glaze covering interior and exterior remains complete, no large-scale glaze loss on the hare’s fur streaks. The coarse unglazed base has no grinding or restoration, retaining original kiln clay texture. This bowl was unearthed from ancient Jian kiln sites in northern Fujian, first collected and circulated by a Hong Kong antique gallery, and now resides in a private ancient porcelain collection in Miami, Florida, USA. Hong Kong is the primary global trading hub for pre-Ming Song porcelain, while California, New York and Texas dominate the market for Ming and Qing porcelain.Description: This is a classic Song-dynasty conical tea bowl crafted at Jianyang kilns, designed exclusively for Song tea competition rituals. It features a widely flared rim, steep sloping walls tapering down to a tiny compact foot ring. The whole vessel is covered with thick, velvety persimmon crystallized glaze with warm caramel-orange tone. From the central bowl bottom, fine dark blue-black hare’s fur streaks radiate outward in natural, flowing lines with rich density variations, presenting fully natural kiln transformation texture. The glaze thins slightly at the rim, creating a subtle light brown golden edge that softens the visual layers. The foot ring is made of typical coarse, iron-rich dark grey clay unique to Jian kilns, with distinct hand-trimming spiral marks on exposed raw clay, fully matching native Song Jian kiln clay characteristics. Song Jian bowls with persimmon radial hare’s fur glaze are far rarer than standard black hare’s fur pieces. This specimen boasts complete, well-spread kiln transformation veins and perfectly regular shape, authentically representing the tea competition utensils favored by Song literati. It serves as an essential physical reference for academic research on Jian kiln glaze technology and Song dynasty whisked tea culture, holding both outstanding collectible and scholarly value.
