Measurements: Overall rim diameter 11.8cm (4.65 inches), total height 5.5cm (2.17 inches), 12‑13th century Song Guan‑ware tea setCondition & Provenance: The cup and stand are original matching set, fully intact without cracks or chips. Rim and foot preserve authentic purple‑mouth iron‑foot characteristics. The glaze is covered with natural aged golden‑thread crackle, no acid cleaning or later glaze filling. Natural patina seepage inside crack lines, exposed foot base retains original raw clay with no grinding or restoration. This tea set first appeared in Hong Kong antique market, passed through a Kuala Lumpur antique dealer, and is now preserved within a private Song porcelain collection in Richmond, Virginia, USA. Hong Kong acts as the primary global trading hub for pre‑Ming ancient porcelain, while California, New York and Texas dominate market for Ming and Qing porcelain.Description: This complete matched set consists of foliate‑rim teacup and stand from Song Guan kiln, representing standard tea utensils for whisked‑tea ceremony among Song elite society. Both cup and stand feature eight‑lobed hibiscus‑shape foliate rims, with gentle raised ribs following the contour creating soft undulating silhouette. The whole surface is covered with soft elegant lavender‑blue Guan‑ware glaze, thick and lustrous glaze layer filled with interwoven golden‑thread crackle patterns of varied density. Centuries of aging created natural golden‑brown stain penetrating into fissures. Where glaze thins along the rim, underlying clay peeks through forming the famous “purple mouth”; unglazed foot shows dark brown “iron foot”, signature traits of Guan ware. The teacup stands on short elevated foot, the saucer has raised circular center platform perfectly fitted to receive the cup base. Authentic Song Guan‑ware survivals are scarce; complete original cup‑and‑stand sets are exceptionally uncommon. Graceful silhouette and restrained quiet glaze aesthetic fully embody the subtle minimalist taste favored by Song imperial court. It serves as precious physical reference for researching Guan‑ware kiln technology and Song whisked‑tea custom, holding outstanding artistic, academic and collectible importance.
