Measurements: Rim diameter 25.5cm (10.04 inches), overall height 5.2cm (2.05 inches), 7‑10th century Tang low-fired lead-glazed potteryCondition & Provenance: The tray is fully intact with no cracks or major chips. All openwork cut-outs along the scalloped rim are complete without missing sections, three supporting feet remain intact with only minor natural wear on foot tips from burial. The emerald green interior glaze features fine natural age crackle, the central large treasure flower and surrounding small cross-shaped floral sprays retain full vibrant polychrome glaze without loss, amber and brown glazes transition smoothly along the rim edges. The underside is fully covered in tawny yellow glaze with a tight stable bond between ceramic body and glaze; no repairs, later re-glazing or artificial alterations, original excavation state fully preserved. This piece was originally unearthed from ancient kiln ruins in Luoyang, Henan Province, circulated through Hong Kong antique dealers, and is currently housed in a private ancient Chinese ceramic collection in Miami, Florida, USA. Hong Kong serves as the primary global trading hub for pre-Song ancient porcelain and pottery.Description: This elaborate offering tray is a representative high-end Tang Sancai ceramic from the prosperous High Tang era, crafted for Buddhist ritual display and noble banquet table use, classified as low-fired lead-glazed pottery exclusive to Tang elite households. The vessel features an eight-lobed scalloped rim carved with continuous hollowed ruyi cloud cut-outs that create fluid, elegant outlines, supported by three sculpted animal-form feet at the base for stable display and dramatic three-dimensional depth. The entire interior surface is covered in rich deep emerald green glaze naturally covered with aged ice crackle fissures formed over centuries. A large molded treasure flower dominates the tray’s center, laid over an off-white base and detailed with cobalt blue, honey amber and chestnut brown glazes to define swirling layered petals, arranged in perfect symmetrical balance that embodies Tang Buddhist decorative aesthetics. Six smaller cross-shaped treasure flower sprays evenly surround the central bloom, creating a balanced layout with striking warm and cool color contrast that radiates luxurious refined charm. The reverse side is fully coated in soft tawny yellow glaze, original kiln firing marks remain visible at the root of each foot, the thick dense ceramic body matches core production traits of Tang Gongxian kilns. Three-footed openwork floral Sancai wares from the High Tang period are extremely scarce among surviving artifacts. This piece unites intricate hollow carving, molded floral relief and multi-color lead glaze techniques, perfectly preserving the unique Tang decorative style blending Buddhist and secular aesthetics. It functions as a vital physical reference for academic research on Tang ritual ceramics and Sancai glaze application craft, carrying exceptional artistic appeal and outstanding value for museum exhibition and private collection.
