No cracks or chips, authentic aged surface overall. Provenance: Private collection, Hong Kong, China. It was purchased from a long‑established Hong Kong antique shop in the 1990s and passed down within the family since then.Description:This large conical celadon bowl is an outstanding masterpiece from the Yaozhou kilns, the most important northern Chinese celadon production center of the Song Dynasty. It takes the classic “dou‑li” conical shape, with widely flared rim, steeply tapering walls and small neatly trimmed foot ring. Subtle vertical melon‑rib indentations decorate the exterior wall. The interior surface is fully decorated with carved ornamentation: a lively mythical beast winds through scrolling peony blossoms. Executed in Yaozhou’s signature slanted‑knife carving technique, every line flows freely, creating dramatic depth. The celadon glaze varies tone according to thickness over raised and recessed carving. The whole vessel is coated in soft olive‑green celadon glaze with smooth lustrous finish, small dark inclusions across the glaze are naturally formed during firing. The foot is precisely trimmed, the exposed base shows dense ceramic body with old burial soil residues. Yaozhou kiln dominated northern celadon production during Song times, famous across the country for its exquisite carved decoration. Large‑size intact conical bowls of this type are quite scarce nowadays. Boasting generous proportions, bold dynamic carving, full composition and mellow antique glaze tone, this well‑preserved artifact perfectly demonstrates the supreme craftsmanship of northern Song celadon. It carries great aesthetic appeal and academic research value, ranking as a high‑caliber collectible Song ceramic treasure.
