Dimensions:Mouth Diameter 13.9cm (5.47 in), Height 3.5cm (1.38 in), 13th-14th Century A.D.Condition & Provenance:This washer is completely intact without cracks, chips or repairs. Fine natural crackle spreads all over the thick smooth glaze. The narrow foot ring exposes pale yellow clay rim with dense solid biscuit texture. The molded twin fish decorations are fully preserved with no damage, coated with natural soft heirloom patina. Provenance: Private collection of veteran Song celadon collector, Hong Kong, China. Acquired at Toronto Asian Antique Fair in 2000, preserved within one family collection for more than forty years. It was only exhibited in small group shows themed on southern Longquan celadon, and has never been consigned to public auctions.Description:This shallow folded-rim washer is a classic pink celadon work fired at Longquan kilns during the Yuan Dynasty, a representative celadon vessel for study room display and water storage use in Song and Yuan dynasties. It features a wide outward folded rim, gently tapering shallow body and a narrow foot ring, forming a soft full silhouette with delicate compact proportions perfect for desk display. A pair of swimming fish is molded onto the inner base, with streamlined lively shapes and clearly carved fins and tails. Twin fish symbolize surplus and prosperity, the most auspicious decorative pattern of Longquan porcelain. The interior and exterior are fully covered with thick iconic Longquan pink celadon glaze, creamy and glossy, presenting a mild elegant pea-green tone. Natural fine crackle develops uniformly across the glaze over centuries, adding delicate antique texture. Vertical chrysanthemum petal ribs are carved around the outer wall, neatly arranged to echo the twin fish inside, creating rich layered decoration details. The foot ring is neatly trimmed; the unglazed rim reveals pale yellow Longquan clay, with soft natural transition between glaze and biscuit without artificial aging treatment. High-quality pink celadon glaze was extremely hard to fire in Yuan times, and intact folded-rim washers with well-preserved twin fish are quite rare nowadays. This specimen boasts graceful standard shape, pure saturated pink celadon tone, natural crackle and intact vivid molded decorations. All biscuit and glaze features perfectly match authentic Yuan Longquan Da Kiln production standards. Original untouched collection patina remains intact. It serves as a key physical reference for researching Yuan Longquan glaze technology, decorative patterns and vessel shapes, and holds outstanding aesthetic and investment value for antique ceramic collectors.
