It was only shown in private special exhibitions dedicated to Southern Song Guan ware and has never been offered for public auction.Description:This powder‑celadon gu‑shaped vase was fired in the imperial Southern Song Guan kiln. Modelled after ancient Shang‑Zhou bronze gu ritual vessel, it served as an important ceremonial display piece for the Song imperial court. It features a widely flared mouth tapering downwards, several raised bow‑string ridges around mid‑body imitating bronze fluting, and a splayed foot ring. The whole silhouette is tall, elegant and stately, fully reflecting the restrained noble aesthetic favored by Song royalty. The interior and exterior are fully covered by thick powder‑celadon glaze, silky and fat like congealed jade. Fine natural gold‑thread crackles spread across every surface. The fissures vary in density and interlace freely, with naturally varied golden tones formed by different shrinkage rates between clay and glaze during kiln cooling, which is the signature trait of Guan ware. Thin glaze along the rim exposes subtle clay to create the famous purple‑rim effect, while unglazed foot ring shows dark ferruginous clay known as iron foot, the hallmark feature of Southern Song Guan porcelain. As an official imperial kiln exclusively for the Song court, Guan kiln produced limited output, complete large display survivors are extremely rare. This gu‑shaped vase boasts well‑balanced proportions, authentic soft celadon tone and naturally aged crackles. All clay‑glaze markers match authentic Southern Song Guan kiln standards. It ranks as museum‑grade Song celadon treasure with tremendous academic research value and high collectible appeal for serious worldwide Asian‑art collectors.
