It was only displayed in private special exhibitions focused on imperial Song celadon and has never been consigned to public auction sales.Description:This sky-celadon rolled rim vase was crafted at the exclusive imperial Guan kiln of the Southern Song Dynasty, a miniature flower vessel widely used for desk display by Song royal literati for flower arrangement. It boasts an elegant silhouette with outward folded rolled lip, neat short straight neck, plump rounded belly and short recessed foot ring. The compact well-balanced proportions and soft flowing lines perfectly embody the minimalist, refined aesthetic favored by Song scholars and imperial courts. The entire interior and exterior are coated with thick, rich sky-celadon glaze with a silky jade-like texture and subtle muted luster. Organic gold thread crackles spread all over the piece, featuring interwoven fissures with varying golden shades, formed naturally by differing thermal expansion rates between clay and glaze during kiln cooling, the iconic artistic hallmark of Southern Song Guan ware. Thin glaze along the rim reveals brown clay to form the famous purple rim, while the unglazed foot ring exposes dark ferruginous clay known as iron foot, the definitive identification feature of authentic Guan kiln porcelain. As an official royal kiln producing ceramics solely for imperial use, intact small display vases from Southern Song Guan kiln are extremely scarce on the global collecting market. This vessel features uniform genuine celadon tone, naturally mature antique crackles and perfectly standard shape, with all clay and glaze technical markers consistent with authentic Southern Song imperial kiln craftsmanship. It counts as a top-tier Song porcelain treasure with remarkable academic research value and strong collectible demand among serious Song ceramic collectors worldwide.
