拍品描述

Dimensions:Mouth Diameter 17.8cm (7.01 in), Height 3cm (1.18 in), 12th‑13th Century A.D.Condition & Provenance:The plate is completely intact, without cracks, chips or modern restoration. The glaze surface is well‑preserved with natural age‑related wear on rim and base. Fully developed antique gold‑thread crackles run throughout the body, and the iron‑foot feature on foot ring is distinct. Provenance: Former collection of a distinguished specialist collector of Song porcelain in Hong Kong, China. Acquired at Kuala Lumpur Asian Antique Art Fair in 2012, kept in one private family collection. It was only displayed in private special exhibitions of Southern Song Guan ware and has never been offered for public auction.Description:This lobed foliate‑rim plate was produced at the imperial Southern Song Guan kiln, serving as a royal‑court scholar‑studio display plate, usable as a tray or fruit server. It features six‑lobed foliate rim, out‑turned lip, shallow curved wall and neatly formed foot ring. The gently undulating outline conveys elegant vitality, perfectly reflecting the restrained natural aesthetic cherished by Song imperial circles. Thick rich celadon glaze covers both interior and exterior, possessing a smooth jade‑like texture with subtle understated luster. Organic gold‑thread crackles spread all across the plate. Large and small fissures interlace freely with yellowish‑brown crackle staining, generated by mismatched thermal shrinkage between body and glaze during kiln cooling, the signature decorative trait of Guan kiln ceramics. A single raised circular line frames the central medallion and enhances visual layering. Thin glaze at rim faintly reveals underlying clay, while the unglazed foot ring presents dark ferruginous body material, fully demonstrating the famous “purple‑rim and iron‑foot” diagnostic feature of authentic Guan ware. As an official imperial kiln operated exclusively for the Southern Song court, Guan kiln output was limited. Surviving large foliate‑rim display plates are exceptionally rare. This plate has well‑balanced shape, even soft celadon tone and naturally aged crackles full of historical patina. Its body‑glaze characteristics match excavated Southern Song Guan kiln archaeological specimens closely. With excellent state of preservation, it represents a high‑level museum‑worthy Song ceramic treasure of great historical, artistic and collectible significance for worldwide Asian‑art collectors.
