This piece was only exhibited in private thematic collections dedicated to Longquan porcelain and has never been consigned to public auctions.description:This Yi pouring basin is a classic scholar’s cleansing vessel crafted at Longquan kilns during the Yuan Dynasty, widely used for hand washing during literati study sessions and ancient elegant banquets across Song and Yuan dynasties. It features an open shallow circular basin with gently curved walls, two subtle shallow horizontal ribs encircling the exterior. A compact smooth pouring spout extends seamlessly from one side, hand-thrown as one integrated piece with the main body, with soft rounded transitions free of sharp edges, delivering minimalist lines balancing daily functionality and quiet elegant aesthetics. Thick, even pink-celadon glaze fully coats every interior and exterior surface, creating rich creamy texture with soft muted sheen, showcasing the iconic pale turquoise hue representative of authentic Longquan ware. The glaze surface is smooth and clean with only tiny natural kiln specks scattered sparsely, no artificially created crackles, the glaze texture bears striking resemblance to fine Hetian jade. Flat base without foot ring, most of the bottom unglazed forming the classic cinnabar-red sandy base signature of Yuan Longquan porcelain, with a small natural glazed patch remaining at the center; authentic pad-firing marks are fully visible, serving as critical dating evidence. Yi basins produced in Yuan Longquan kilns are far rarer than common plates and bowls, top-tier specimens with perfect intact glaze and complete original sandy bases are extremely hard to find. This Yi basin features perfectly balanced standard proportions, consistent pure pink-celadon tone, its body and glaze technical characteristics perfectly match excavated Yuan Dynasty archaeological shards from the main Longquan Dayao kiln site in Zhejiang Province. Retaining untouched original kiln base features and excellent preservation condition, this vessel carries outstanding value for desk display, antique ceramic academic research and long-term investment collection, highly sought after by dedicated Longquan celadon collectors across North America, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
