拍品描述

Dimensions:Maximum width 12cm (4.72 in), overall height 9cm (3.54 in), 10th‑13th Century A.D.Condition & Provenance:Comes with its original matching lid. The ewer is fully intact without cracks, chips or modern restoration. Mould‑impressed patterns remain crisp and full; spout and handle are undamaged. Fine natural crackle across glaze is original. Unglazed base retains untouched soil patina and dark kiln sediment from stacking firing without polishing or cleaning. Provenance: Former private collection of a Hong‑Kong‑based ancient porcelain collector. Acquired at Kuala Lumpur Asian Antique Fair in 2013, passed down privately within one family. Exhibited only for private themed shows on Song Yingqing porcelain, never offered at public auctions.Description:This well‑proportioned melon‑ribbed ewer is a fine Yingqing ware from the Song‑period Hutian kilns, representing functional drinking and tea‑pouring vessels of medieval China. The rounded body is divided into raised melon lobes, each lobe decorated with mould‑pressed scrolling foliage. A string‑of‑pearls border encircles the mouth opening for elaborate ornamentation. The short straight spout and wide integrated strap‑handle are seamlessly formed with the main body. Its matching lid repeats the melon‑petal design and features a small side loop, showing thoughtful craftsmanship. The entire piece is covered in iconic Hutian Yingqing glaze, with subtle pale cyan‑blue tone, translucent and lustrous, covered with fine natural crackle and soft jade‑like luster. The unglazed foot base reveals fine white ceramic body, marked by original burial soil patina and dark kiln grit, consistent with excavated Song‑period shards from the Hutian kiln site in Jiangxi Province. Melon‑shaped Yingqing ewers survive in moderate numbers, yet complete examples preserved together with their original matching lids are quite uncommon on the antique market. This ewer features vivid plump form, well‑defined mould‑impressed motifs, elegant mild Yingqing glaze, and fully preserved original firing traces on base. In excellent state of preservation, it serves as important physical evidence for studying Song‑dynasty wine‑tea culture and southern Chinese ceramic technology. Perfect for tea‑room display, it holds substantial collectible value and is highly admired by Song‑porcelain collectors in Pennsylvania and across Southeast Asia.
