拍品描述

Dimensions:Mouth diameter 12.5cm (4.92 in), overall height 13cm (5.12 in), 12th‑13th Century A.D.Condition & Provenance:The censer is completely intact, without cracks, chips, glaze loss or modern restoration. All crackle lines are naturally formed in kiln firing with mature golden‑brown aged veins. The two upright handles and three beast‑form feet remain full and sharp. Iron‑brown firing marks and ancient patina on foot tips are fully preserved, no artificial polishing or cleaning has ever been done. Provenance: Former private collection of a distinguished Song porcelain connoisseur based in Hong Kong. Acquired at Kuala Lumpur Asian Antique Art Fair in 2013, handed down within one private family for over forty years. It was only shown in private themed exhibitions for Southern Song Longquan celadon and has never been offered in public auction.Description:This tripod censer from Southern Song Longquan kiln adapts archaic bronze ding ritual vessel shape, serving as an important incense burner for scholar‑household display. It reinterprets ancient bronze ritual form in ceramic medium, perfectly reflecting the antiquarian aesthetic taste among Southern Song literati. The censer features wide flared rim, contracted neck and full rounded bulbous body. Two squared upright handles rise from the rim, supported by three robust beast‑mask feet at base. It delivers solemn weighty silhouette with soft rounded contours inherited from ancient bronze ding vessels. Thick, luscious pink‑celadon glaze fully covers interior and exterior. The jade‑thick glaze surface is covered with interwoven natural mesh crackles, which have matured into fine golden‑brown veins over centuries. Crackle texture runs consistently through the whole vessel with soft even glaze tone and subtle understated luster. Two subtle raised bow‑string lines decorate the neck without excessive ornamentation, following the minimal Song porcelain aesthetic. Three powerful beast feet have unglazed tips bearing characteristic Longquan iron‑brown firing residue. The base interior is fully glazed with unified glaze and crackle across entire piece. Tripod censers imitating bronze ritual wares were extremely challenging to fire during Southern Song; handles and feet were prone to warping or collapsing in kiln. Surviving intact examples with fine glaze condition are quite scarce in today’s market. This ding‑style censer carries stately grand shape, jade‑like thick pink‑celadon glaze, rich layered golden crackles and perfectly preserved handles and beast feet. Untouched ancient patina makes it a representative surviving specimen of Longquan archaistic ritual porcelain. It holds great display value for traditional interior space, important cultural research value on ancient ritual vessels and top‑tier collectible worth, highly admired by Song‑celadon collectors from Hong Kong, Florida USA and Southeast Asia.
