拍品描述

Dimensions:Mouth diameter 8.2cm (3.23 in), height 10.3cm (4.06 in), 10th‑13th Century A.D.Condition & Provenance:The vase is fully intact, without cracks, chips or modern restoration. Original interwoven dark and golden crackle covers the whole body. Glaze on rim, body and base remains well‑preserved, firing spur marks on base are distinct. Ancient mellow patina is untouched, no artificial polishing or acid cleaning, only natural age‑related surface condition. Provenance: Former private collection of a senior Hong‑Kong‑based Song‑ceramics connoisseur. Acquired at Kuala Lumpur Asian Antique Art Fair in 2015, preserved within one family for more than thirty years. It was only exhibited in private thematic shows for Song archaistic celadon and has never been consigned to public auction.Description:This Ge‑type glazed Gu vase reinterprets Shang‑Zhou bronze Gu vessel, representing the antiquarian taste among Song literati for studio display. It features widely flared mouth, trumpet‑shaped long neck, two raised bulbous nodes at mid‑body and splayed ring foot. The silhouette is elegant and well‑proportioned. Thick, lustrous Ge‑type glaze covers interior and exterior entirely, covered with interlaced ice‑crack fissures. Dark iron‑black veins interlock with pale golden‑yellow crackle lines. Thin glaze near rim reveals subtle creamy‑yellow undertone with soft subdued luster, typical aesthetic character of Ge‑type wares. Crackle patterns run consistently from outer surface to inner cavity without post‑firing decoration. The fully‑glazed base bears several tiny firing spurs exposing pale grey clay, faithfully preserving Song‑period manufacturing traces. Song literati admired ancient antiquities, hence numerous porcelains were modeled after archaic bronze ritual vessels. Small‑size Ge‑type Gu vases served as elegant table ornaments or flower holders. Complete surviving examples are relatively scarce. This Gu vase faithfully follows ancient bronze prototype with spontaneous crackle and serene antique glaze tone, all‑original undisturbed patina. It serves as important reference for studying Song archaistic porcelain and Ge‑type glaze tradition, holding great value for desktop display, academic research and antique‑collecting, highly treasured by Song‑porcelain collectors from Hong Kong, Pennsylvania USA and Southeast Asia.
