拍品描述

Dimensions:Overall height 21.1cm (8.31 in), 17th-19th Century A.D.Condition & Provenance:The vase is entirely intact without cracks, chips or any restoration. The full aubergine glaze remains intact, only faint natural wear marks from long-term collection appear on the body with soft antique glaze luster. Concentric wheel-cut marks on unglazed base foot are distinct, covered with natural aged soil patina, no artificial acid cleaning or polishing. Provenance: Former private collection of a senior Qing porcelain collector based in New York State, USA. Acquired at Toronto International Asian Art Fair in 2010, passed down within one family for over forty years. It was only exhibited in private North American thematic shows for Qing monochrome porcelain and has never been consigned to public auction.description:This long-neck flared rim vase coated with classic aubergine glaze was made in Qing Dynasty, a mainstream monochrome ceramic used for flower arrangement and desktop display in ancient interior spaces. It features a small outward flared mouth at the top, paired with an elongated straight neck with sleek smooth lines. The neck gently curves down to a plump oval body, supported by a shallow ring foot. The whole piece boasts well-balanced slender proportions and minimalist elegant silhouette. The exterior is fully covered with rich, pure aubergine glaze featuring deep even tone and delicate velvety sheen. Thick tight glaze naturally drips and stops at lower belly, leaving unglazed creamy white raw clay at the bottom. The dry, solid clay base foot bears clear concentric wheel-spinning traces from hand-throwing, covered with primitive light brown soil patina, fully preserving original folk kiln craftsmanship of Qing monochrome wares. As a low-temperature lead glaze, aubergine purple glaze was widely favored by literati during Ming and Qing dynasties. Its deep dark blue-purple tone fits perfectly for both traditional Chinese and western interior decoration. With standardized elegant shape, pure rich glaze and untouched original base craft marks, this vase serves as an excellent physical specimen for researching low-temperature colored glaze firing techniques in Qing Dynasty. It holds great value for home ornament, academic research and antique collecting, highly sought after by monochrome porcelain collectors from New York State, California USA and Toronto.
