拍品描述

Dimensions:Overall height 23cm (9.06 in), 13th‑14th Century A.D.Condition & Provenance:The vase is fully intact, free of cracks, chips or modern restoration. Cobalt blue presents deep tone with natural iron rust spots on partial motifs. The glaze is lustrous, well‑preserved across rim and body. Exposed sandy base bears original burial patina without acid washing or artificial polishing. Provenance: Former private collection of a senior Yuan‑porcelain connoisseur in Hong Kong. Acquired at Kuala Lumpur Asian Antique Art Fair in 2008, preserved within one family for more than forty years. It was only shown in private thematic exhibitions for Yuan blue‑and‑white porcelain and has never been consigned to public auction.Description:This dragon‑pattern Meiping is a representative storage and display vessel of Yuan Dynasty. It has small mouth and short neck, broad full shoulder, tapering body down to neat ring foot, presenting robust, upright silhouette. Decoration is divided into several horizontal registers. Scroll‑grass border runs beneath neck; shoulder is painted with exuberant interlocking lotus scrolls. Central main field features a powerful striding dragon with raised head, flying mane, meticulously scaled body and sharp claws weaving through cloud scrolls. Near the base sits stylized lotus‑petal band enclosing ruyi cloud motifs. Layout is well‑organized layer by layer. Sharp contrast exists between deep cobalt blue and white porcelain body. Typical iron rust spots appear within painted motifs. Painterly strokes are free and vigorous, characteristic of Yuan artistic taste. The sandy rough base is covered with thick orange‑red burial soil encrustation from long‑term underground burial. Surviving Yuan blue‑and‑white porcelains are scarce, especially complete medium‑small Meiping decorated with dragon motif. This piece integrates Yuan‑era body‑forming and cobalt painting craftsmanship, reflecting the aesthetic standard of high‑grade Yuan blue‑and‑white wares. It serves as significant material for academic research, home display and antique‑collecting, highly treasured by Yuan‑porcelain collectors from Hong Kong, Illinois USA and Southeast Asia.
