拍品描述

Dimensions:Maximum belly diameter 8cm (3.15 in), overall height 11.5cm (4.53 in), 10th‑13th Century A.D.Condition & Provenance:Jar body is fully intact without cracks or chips, original matching lid is completely preserved. Overall Yingqing glaze is well‑preserved with faint natural aged patina. Unglazed base shows dry clay with original soil stains, no acid washing or artificial polishing. Provenance: Former private collection of an antique‑ceramic collector based in Wyoming, USA. Acquired at Kuala Lumpur Asian Art Fair in 2013, privately preserved within one family for over thirty years. It was only shown in private thematic exhibitions for Song‑dynasty nature‑imitating porcelain and has never been consigned to public auction.Description:This eggplant‑shaped lidded jar is a whimsical nature‑imitating work from Hutian kiln Yingqing ware, used in ancient times for storing incense powder, spices or medicinal pellets. The body realistically mimics an eggplant with plump, smoothly rounded silhouette. Its matching lid is sculpted to resemble calyx and stem: petal‑shaped lid surface supports a curled stalk highlighted with brown‑rust slip imitating natural stem color, showing delicate craftsmanship. The whole piece is covered by bluish‑white Yingqing glaze, lustrous and translucent with subtle lake‑blue undertone. Unglazed flat base bears fine clay texture with reddish‑brown burial stains and kiln‑support marks, authentic to Hutian kiln manufacturing traits. Nature‑imitating porcelain flourished during Song Dynasty. Artisans modeled vessels after fruits and plants, merging practical function with natural elegance. Complete surviving examples of this eggplant‑form jar are quite rare. It serves as precious physical specimen for researching Song‑dynasty sculpted ceramic art, suitable for desktop appreciation, academic study and antique‑collecting. It is highly treasured by Song‑porcelain collectors from Wyoming USA, Hong Kong and Singapore.
