It was only shown in private themed exhibitions of Song flambe tea wares and has never been offered in public auctions.Description:This distinctive white‑rim flambe tea bowl is a highly artistic drinking vessel made at Jizhou kiln for Song‑dynasty tea‑whisking culture. Crafted in classic straw‑hat silhouette, it has flared rim, sloping wall and short low foot, light and well‑proportioned for traditional tea preparation. The rim is coated in bluish‑white glaze covered with fine ice‑cracked texture. Interior and exterior flambe glaze flows organically from deep black‑brown at center outwards to russet‑red and golden‑brown, resembling ink‑wash landscape. Such magnificent color variations are naturally created in firing rather than hand‑painted. Unglazed base exposes coarse off‑white pottery body with crisp turning striations, characteristic of Jizhou kiln production. Jizhou craftsmen excelled at diverse flambe tea wares, and examples with contrasting white rim are comparatively rare. This piece integrates fine form, rich glaze and spontaneous kiln‑transformation, retaining clear period markers. It serves as precious material for studying southern ceramic technology and Song tea custom, ideal for tea‑table display and scholarly collection, highly valued by ancient‑porcelain collectors from Virginia, Illinois and Hong Kong.
