Dimensions：Mouth diameter 7cm (2.76 in), height 4.5cm (1.77 in), 10th‑13th Century A.D.Condition & Provenance：The vessel is fully intact without cracks, chips or restoration. Thick sky‑blue glaze carries natural crackle throughout the surface. The rim and foot show the classic “purple mouth and iron foot” feature of Guan ware, covered by authentic aged patina, no acid washing or artificial surface treatment. Provenance: Former private collection of a Song‑porcelain collector based in Georgia, USA. Acquired at Paris Asian Antique Art Fair in 2013, preserved within one family for more than thirty years. It was only exhibited in private themed shows of Song Guan‑ware and has never been consigned to public auctions.Description：This small Guan‑ware bird feeder is a rare Song‑dynasty scholar‑studio treasure. Globular in shape with contracted mouth, curved body and short foot, a single loop lug on one side allows cord suspension for bird‑cage use. It is fully covered by thick sky‑blue Guan‑ware glaze decorated with spontaneous ice‑crack crackle pattern. Thin glaze at rim faintly reveals underlying clay, while the foot exposes dark brown body, representing the signature “purple‑mouth iron‑foot” trait of official Song Guan kiln. Produced for imperial court, Guan‑ware pursued restrained and understated aesthetic. Miniature bird‑feeding vessels such as this are uncommon survivors, originating as court curiosities. It works wonderfully for cabinet display and bears important academic research value, highly prized by Song‑porcelain collectors from Georgia, New York and Hong Kong.
