拍品描述

Dimensions:Overall height 30cm (11.81 in), 10th‑13th Century A.D。Condition & Provenance:The vase is fully intact without cracks, chips, repairs or repainting. The whole body is covered with even, glossy purple gold glaze layered with natural ancient patina from centuries of aging. The exposed white clay foot is dry and naturally aged, with distinct hand‑thrown spiral trimming lines on the base interior. No acid washing, grinding or artificial ageing alterations exist along glaze‑clay boundaries. Provenance: Former private collection of a Northern Song antique porcelain collector based in Illinois, USA. Acquired at London Asian Antique Art Fair in 2010, passed down within one family for over forty years. It was only displayed at private themed exhibitions for Northern Song kiln wares and has never been consigned to public auctions.Description:This purple gold glaze plum vase is a representative display masterpiece of monochrome porcelain from Song Dynasty Ding Kiln, a famous northern ceramic workshop in ancient China. It follows the classic Song plum vase silhouette, featuring a tiny rolled lip mouth, short constricted neck, full rounded shoulder and belly tapering gently down to a slightly flared foot. The flowing vertical contours create a tall, elegant, well‑balanced shape that defines standard Song plum vase proportions. The entire vessel is coated in thick, uniform purple gold sauce glaze with a rich translucent caramel‑brown tone, polished glossy surface and soft subtle luster. Faint horizontal throwing striations run vertically across the glaze, natural marks left by original hand‑forming techniques. The base reveals unglazed fine solid white clay, marked with clear spiral trimming lines handmade during production, a signature craft feature of authentic Song Ding wares. Purple gold glaze was a rare premium color glaze exclusive to Ding Kilns, requiring precise firing control, and large intact plum vases of this type are extremely scarce today. With pure authentic glaze tone, stately well‑proportioned form and flawless preservation, this piece perfectly embodies the minimalist, sophisticated monochrome aesthetic cherished by Northern Song craftsmen. It stands as a rare, highly collectible ancient ceramic treasure widely pursued by veteran Song porcelain collectors from Illinois, California and Hong Kong.
