Dimensions:Total width 40cm (15.75 in), overall height 37cm (14.57 in), weight 17.2kg, 17th-19th Century A.D.Condition & Provenance:The statue is fully intact without missing parts, repairs or re-gilding. The bronze core is thick and solid. The overall gilding is well-preserved with thick, lustrous gold coating, evenly scattered natural age wear, no acid washing or grinding alterations. The scrolling floral engravings on the robe stay crisp and smooth. Double layers of upturned lotus petals remain full and three-dimensional. The Tibetan inscription along the base of lotus throne is complete and legible. An eight-petal dharma wheel taiji pattern is finely carved at the center of the bottom plate with undamaged engraving work, no cracks on the body or backplate. Provenance: Private collection of a senior Asian art collector based in California, USA. Acquired at a Tibetan Buddhist art auction in Bangkok in 1999, preserved within one family for over twenty years. It was only exhibited at private Buddhist statue special shows in San Francisco, California and has never been consigned to public auctions.Description:This is a premium gilt bronze lama master statue of Qing Dynasty Tibetan style, originally enshrined as main deity in Tibetan monasteries. The statue boasts an imposing large size with heavy solid bronze core, ranking among top-tier Qing Tibetan gilt bronze sculptures. The master sits in full lotus position on a double-layered upturned lotus pedestal. His facial features are mellow and serene, eyes half closed, carrying a calm and compassionate aura that perfectly captures the meditative state of a great lama. His hands form the teaching mudra at chest height, with well-proportioned, relaxed limbs shaped by masterful realistic sculpting techniques. He wears wide-sleeve monk robes fully covered with delicate scrolling floral engravings, paired with neat grid kasaya lines carved with consistent depth and exquisite details. The double lotus pedestal features plump, outward-curving petals, a classic standard design of Qing Tibetan Buddhist statues. A full set of Tibetan script is carved along the outer bottom rim of the throne, and an eight-petal dharma wheel taiji symbol is finely etched at the center of the original matching bottom plate with no later replacement. The whole figure is fully covered in thick, mellow ancient gilding that survives centuries of worship, showcasing soft restrained golden glow with natural aged patina fused into bronze. Crafted with complex lost-wax casting, full body gilding, fine line engraving and Tibetan inscription carving, this statue perfectly retains the artistic aesthetics and religious ritual standards of Qing Tibetan bronze art. It holds immense value for religious worship, academic art research and high-end display collection, highly pursued by veteran collectors of Tibetan Buddhist statues across California, Paris and Bangkok.
