拍品描述

Dimensions:Overall height 35cm(13.78in),10th‑12th Century CECondition & Provenance:The vessel is fully intact with no penetrating cracks or large chips, free of any modern restoration work. The rich emerald green glaze is covered with fine natural age crackle all over the body. The marbled wave texture stays sharply defined, raised applied floral reliefs retain full three‑dimensional detail with smooth amber glaze flow transitions. The gourd‑shaped spout is fully preserved. The unglazed base reveals dry coarse ancient pottery clay marked by millennia of earth patina.Only tiny shallow glaze flecks exist on the foot rim from long‑term antique storage wear without exposing the core clay. This piece originates from a private Liao & Jin ceramic collection in Miami,Florida,USA.The collector purchased this vessel from a Hong Kong antique gallery back in 1988 and has kept it in climate‑controlled dark storage ever since, standing as an extremely rare museum‑level Liao tri‑color masterpiece.Description:This kundika water vessel is an iconic Liao tri‑color ceramic that perfectly blends nomadic grassland aesthetics with central plains porcelain craftsmanship. The silhouette is tall and elegant with a flared ring foot, bulbous rounded torso, slender straight neck topped with a disc flange, and a gourd‑form amber glazed spout attached to one side for liquid pouring. The entire body is crafted with marbled clay technique, forming layered undulating wave patterns that mimic natural stone veining, fully covered by deep forest green glaze crisscrossed with original ancient crackle relief.Multiple raised molded treasure flower blossoms adorn the belly with intricate layered petals, each flower center highlighted with yellow and off‑white glaze;miniature floral appliqués also decorate the neck disc border. The three primary hues of green, yellow and cream flow naturally across the surface creating bold, striking color contrast. The base is left unglazed to expose coarse dry Liao northern kiln pottery clay,a definitive characteristic of northern Liao ceramic production.Kundika vessels were sacred Buddhist water offering tools.Merging marbled clay, molded appliqué and tri‑color glaze techniques, this type of composite craftwork is extremely scarce among surviving Liao artifacts. It combines religious ritual function with the bold unrestrained artistic taste of ancient northern steppe cultures. With intricate multi‑stage production and low surviving population, this vessel is a highly distinctive rare treasure within Liao ceramic studies, holding outstanding archaeological and collectible artistic value.
