拍品描述

Dimensions:Mouth diameter 17.5cm(6.89in),overall height 5.6cm(2.20in),12th-13th Century CECondition & Provenance:The bowl survives entirely intact with no cracks, chips or missing porcelain, and zero modern restoration. It is fully covered with smooth pale bluish-white Yingqing glaze naturally veined with fine age crackle formed over centuries of collection. The interior carved motif stays crisp and three-dimensional with unbroken flowing lines. The short foot ring reveals fine pale grey sandy porcelain clay with only faint natural earth patina and light inherited wear on the base;the rim holds minimal faint age wear without chipping. This piece originates from a private Song porcelain collector’s estate in Kowloon,Hong Kong. The collector acquired it from a long-established antique shop near Jingdezhen kiln sites back in 1986,and stored it long-term in climate-controlled dark storage with humidity regulation.Large undamaged Yingqing conical bowls carved with twin boys motifs are extremely scarce on the antique market.Description:This wide conical bowl is a premium high-end dining and tea ware crafted at Hutian Kiln during the Southern Song Dynasty,a masterpiece of southern Chinese porcelain art of the Song era.It features a wide flared rim tapering sharply down to a shallow belly and tiny compact foot ring, crafted with ultra-thin translucent porcelain body that glows jade-like when held up to light. The entire vessel is uniformly coated with soft elegant Hutian Yingqing pale celadon glaze, boasting smooth jade-like texture and clear transparency, covered all over with fine natural crackle from hundreds of years of inheritance. The interior deep-carved central motif depicts two playful children frolicking around a full blooming lotus flower, surrounded by layered lotus leaves and scrolling grass patterns. The carving chisel lines shift between deep and shallow to create vivid depth, rendering chubby lively child figures and full layered lotus foliage with balanced well-spaced composition, representing the peak carving craftsmanship of Hutian Kiln in the Song period. The base foot ring is left unglazed, exposing tight clean pale grey hard porcelain clay with original sandy kiln finish and light natural soil staining.Hutian Yingqing porcelain earned the nickname “fake jade” in ancient China for its jade-like luster. This large conical bowl with intact crisp lotus-and-boys carving, uniform well-preserved glaze and perfect shape carries the minimalist elegant Song aesthetic paired with exceptional porcelain making techniques. It qualifies as museum-quality Jingdezhen imperial-style porcelain treasure from the Song Dynasty, once used as precious tea and banquet display ware for noble literati families.
