Dimensions:Diameter 14.6cm(5.75in),height 2.8cm(1.10in),Late 19th‑Early 20th Century CECondition & Provenance:The dish is in perfect intact condition,free of cracks,chips and enamel loss,with no modern restorations.The interior black ground glaze is smooth and even,wucai flower‑and‑butterfly painted motifs remain complete with rich layered colors.The underside features fine white glaze.The iron‑red six‑character mark “Da Qing Guang Xu Nian Zhi” is neatly inscribed on base,with only faint natural wear on foot ring.This piece originates from a private Qing‑dynasty porcelain collection in Los Angeles,California,USA.The collector acquired it through a Hong Kong antique gallery in the 1990s and kept it under climate‑controlled dark storage.Authentic Guangxu‑period black‑ground wucai wares are fairly uncommon.Description:This is a decorative small dish in official‑ware style produced during the Guangxu reign of late Qing dynasty.It has well‑proportioned shallow curved body and neatly trimmed foot ring.The interior is covered with jet‑black ground glaze,over‑painted with wucai enamel depicting peonies,magnolias,assorted blossoming branches,rockwork and fluttering butterflies.The blossoms and leaves unfold naturally;green,pink,white,orange and yellow pigments stand out brilliantly against deep black background.Composition is well‑balanced,flower‑rock‑butterfly theme symbolizes prosperity and vitality.The outer wall is covered with pure white glaze.The base bears formal iron‑red regular‑script six‑character Guangxu reign mark.Black‑ground wucai required complicated firing techniques and few well‑preserved examples survive from Guangxu era.This example retains lustrous black glaze and bright original enamels,counting as a museum‑grade fine representative of late Qing wucai porcelain.
