Dimensions:Mouth Diameter 19.8cm(7.80in),Height 4.2cm(1.65in),14th Century CECondition & Provenance:The plate is fully intact without cracks, chips or modern restoration.Original celadon glaze survives well on both interior and exterior.Faint natural yellow‑brown age stains appear along thinly glazed rim as genuine ancient porcelain aging marks. The mould‑printed deer‑and‑cloud motif at center remains legible without heavy wear or glaze loss. The unglazed foot base bears thick authentic kiln rust with solid dense body clay. This work comes from an old‑ware private collection in Seattle,Washington,USA.The collector obtained the plate from a Hong Kong antique dealer in 2004 and stored it long‑term in temperature‑controlled dark storage.Mould‑printed auspicious‑deer Longquan wares of Yuan dynasty are relatively uncommon worldwide.Description:This plate is a representative usable and display piece from Longquan kiln of Yuan dynasty. It has wide open mouth, shallow gently curved belly and neatly shaped foot ring with elegant well‑balanced silhouette. The inner center is mould‑printed with a deer holding ganoderma fungus amid swirling clouds.Deer carries the homophonic meaning of official fortune and good luck,a popular auspicious theme in Yuan decorative art.Two concentric circular lines frame the central motif. The outer wall is plain without ornamentation.Thick velvety pea‑green celadon glaze coats the whole plate with even tone, jade‑rich texture and soft understated luster.Glaze thins at the rim revealing pale beige body clay. The foot ring is neatly trimmed;glaze remains on the base center while the bare foot area is covered in rich natural orange‑red firing rust,a hallmark of major Longquan kiln‑site production.Auspicious‑deer themes are not frequently encountered on Yuan Longquan porcelains. This plate successfully merges propitious symbolism with the celebrated thick Longquan glaze. It functioned as an offering plate, serving dish or decorative display piece back in ancient times. With mature craftsmanship and fine preservation, comparable mould‑printed deer‑pattern Longquan plates circulate infrequently within overseas antique trade, possessing significant ceramic‑art research and collectible value.
