5th‑6th Century Silla Dynasty Silver Wing‑Shaped Ritual Diadem with Movable Pendants Dimensions: Crown height 7.5cm (2.95 inches), crown diameter 18cm (7.09 inches), overall height with display stand 47.5cm (18.70 inches), weight 174g, 5th‑6th century Condition & Provenance: Private collection from Virginia. The crown retains its complete original form with thick untouched ancient verdigris patina. Every swinging silver disc and twisted silver‑filigree ornament is original to the artifact, showing nothing more than natural age‑related wear with no modern repairs or artificial cleaning Description: This high‑status noble Silla silver regalia was skillfully forged with sheet‑hammering and open‑twisted silver wirework. Two tall, upward‑sweeping wing‑form panels rise from the circular band. Rows of freely dangling silver discs cover the wing surfaces, while flowing twisted wavy silver fringe extends from the rear. Every small ornament shimmers and rustles once the wearer moves. This type of shaking crown served as sacred shamanic regalia for Silla noble burial rituals. The wing motif symbolizes divine flight, embodying the ancient belief in the soul ascending toward the heavens. Almost all comparable masterpieces are kept permanently within Korean national museums. Fully intact, complete private examples remain extremely hard to find on the global art market, standing as a precious artifact reflecting cultural exchange along the ancient Northeast Asian Steppe Silk Road
