Dimensions:Overall Height 14cm(5.51in),10-13th Century CECondition & Provenance:The whole vessel was fired in one piece without splicing. The gourd body and integrated stand are fully intact with no penetrating cracks, rim chips, edge losses, restoration or later overpainting. The entire piece is covered with sky-celadon glaze blanketed in fine natural period crackle, paired with organically blended kiln-transmutation rose purple patches with soft gradient flowing layers. The hollow cut-out openings on the base remain complete;the unglazed foot ring reveals russet clay body with authentic dry aged texture.Only faint wear and minor burial patina exist along the base rim, without severe glaze flaking or kiln cracks. This rare Jun vase originates from a private ancient Song porcelain collector based in Hong Kong. The collector purchased this artifact from an Asian antique gallery in Toronto in 2015.Intact Song Jun gourd vases with original integrated hollow stand are extremely scarce across global antique markets.Description:This delicate ornamental display porcelain was crafted at Jun kilns during China’s Song Dynasty. The gourd bottle and stand were molded as a single integrated unit, composed of dual gourd chambers and a hollow lotus-petal base. The upper section features a flared rim and slender neck with two graduated gourd shapes boasting smooth rounded contours. The attached base is decorated with outward curling lotus petal protrusions with symmetrical hollow cut-outs between petals, adding both decorative charm and ventilation function. This compact elegant form was exclusively designed for ancient literati desk display. The vessel is coated with Jun kiln’s iconic opaque sky-celadon glaze with thick, lustrous texture, covered with fine natural crackle all over the surface.Naturally formed copper-induced rose purple kiln splashes drift across the upper gourd belly and lotus petals of the base, blending seamlessly with the pale blue glaze without hand-painted outlines. The shifting color gradient is the signature artistic charm of Jun ware high-temperature kiln transformation. The bottom foot ring is left unglazed, exposing dense dry russet clay with neat trimming work and natural glaze dripping at the glaze-clay junction.Jun kiln ranks among China’s Five Great Song Imperial Kilns, famous for unpredictable purple kiln transmutation patterns.Examples retaining original integrated hollow stand are rarely preserved to this day. This gourd vase features flawless structure, pure vivid kiln color and authentic ancient crackle, standing as a top-tier miniature Song Jun display porcelain. It is ideal for ancient ceramic museum special exhibitions, traditional Chinese study decor and specialized overseas collections of Song dynasty porcelain.
