Dimensions:Overall Height 72.5cm(28.54in),Width of Main Nimbus 52cm(20.47in),Weight 43kg,17-19th Century CE,condition & Provenance:The entire statue is cast as an integrated piece with no missing segments, breaks or restorations. The gilded surface bears natural age-related wear and fading while the bronze base metal remains intact without corrosion pits.Mineral blue pigment on the hair bun and red pigment on the flame nimbus are fully preserved. All bead carvings on robes and relief lotus patterns stay crisp and intact, only minor natural gild abrasion on edges. The eight-petal lotus stamp on the base bottom is perfectly clear. This sculpture comes from a private collector based in San Francisco,California. The collector acquired this statue from a vintage Thai antique gallery specializing in Tibetan Buddhist art in Bangkok back in 2015.Large complete Avalokiteshvara triad bronze statues with original nimbus, attendant bodhisattvas and double lotus pedestal are extremely rare in global antique markets.Description:This monumental triad sculpture is a Qing dynasty Sino-Tibetan gilt bronze painted statue of relaxed posture Avalokiteshvara, cast entirely via lost-wax casting method with solid heavy weight of 43 kilograms, originally displayed as the central worship figure in ancient temple halls. The main Avalokiteshvara sits in lalitasana game pose on double layered upside-down and upright lotus throne, left leg hanging down stepping on a lotus bloom, right leg folded inward. The right hand holds varada mudra of wish granting, left hand gently grips a lotus sprig, carrying a gentle compassionate facial expression. The deity wears an elaborate multi-layer jeweled crown with mineral blue pigment covering the hair bun, adorned with stacked pearl necklaces and arm ornaments all over the torso. The flowing silk scarves feature soft curved lines, covered with fine hand-chased beaded patterns to show extraordinary craftsmanship.A hollow openwork flame halo stands behind the main figure, retaining original ancient mineral red paint with multi-layer three-dimensional hollow carving. Two symmetrical attendant bodhisattvas stand on each side of the lotus throne, each housed within independent niche pillars with hands pressed together in prayer pose;the niche frames are fully decorated with scrolling grass and flame relief carvings. The supporting base is a multi-tier stepped square plinth, stamped with an eight-petal auspicious lotus mark at the exact center of the bottom.Small miniature donor figures are carved within openwork twisted vine cutouts on the base with meticulous tiny details. This artwork perfectly combines Han Chinese and Tibetan Buddhist sculptural aesthetics, boasting multi-layered original gilding and intact ancient mineral pigments with top-tier chasing,hollow-out and casting craftsmanship.Fully intact large triad statues like this surviving through centuries are extraordinarily scarce. It ranks as a core collectible of Tibetan Buddhist art, perfect for permanent display in professional Buddhist sculpture museums and elite private collections focused on Himalayan religious art.
