The mouth rim, neck, body and foot retain all original glaze surfaces. Cobalt blue pigment shows rich, steady tone with crisp, unblurred painting lines. The six-character Qianlong seal script reign mark on the base is neat and legible. The unglazed foot ring preserves original brown spiral wheel-trimmed clay with natural age patina. Only faint minor wear marks along the rim from long-term handling, no modern damage. This vessel was owned by a seasoned private collector of Qing imperial porcelain based in Manhattan,New York,USA, acquired from a well-established London Oriental art auction house in 2018. Large Qianlong blue and white fish tail vases decorated with pine motifs are fairly scarce on the market. Its well-proportioned grand shape and intricate intact painting make it an iconic benchmark imperial display ware from the 1700s, offering great value for museum exhibitions, luxury interior decor and long-term art collection.Description:This large vase is a prominent imperial blue and white display piece crafted in the official kilns during the Qianlong reign of Qing Dynasty, representing top-tier 18th-century court ceramic art with pine and cloud landscape decoration. It follows the classic fish-tail silhouette with wide flared dish mouth and narrow tapered neck. Two distinct blue decorative bands wrap around the neck: the upper band features interlocking spiral cloud scrolls, while the lower band is lined with uniform vertical square border motifs, creating clear visual hierarchy. The vessel boasts rounded full shoulders and a broad mid-body tapering gently down to a flared ring foot, delivering balanced, elegant proportions. Standing 38.5cm tall, its substantial scale stands out among ordinary Qing display porcelains. The exterior body is fully painted with refined pine tree, cloud and rock scenery using premium Zhejiang cobalt pigment. The ancient pine trunk is rendered with textured bark detailing, dense layered pine needles arranged to create deep spatial depth, paired with flowing layered cloud scrolls and soft shaded mountain rocks at the base. The cobalt glaze achieves multiple subtle tonal gradients, perfectly demonstrating the sophisticated five-shade cobalt water separation technique mastered by Qianlong imperial painters. The interior is covered with bright, transparent glossy white glaze. The foot ring is left unglazed to reveal compact fine porcelain clay marked with distinct spiral wheel carving lines, coated with natural aged tan patina. The center of the base bears a three-line six-character underglaze blue seal script Da Qing Qian Long Nian Zhi imperial mark with precise calligraphy and authentic Qianlong cobalt blue hue, carrying definitive period characteristics. Pine-themed blue and white vases were primarily made for grand palace hall decoration during the Qianlong era. Surviving large fully intact specimens after over two hundred years of transmission are extremely rare. This fish tail vase hits all core imperial porcelain standards in form, glaze, painting and reign mark, ranking as a top-tier representative work of mid-Qing blue and white porcelain. It is perfectly suited for specialized ceramic museum displays, elite private Qing imperial porcelain collections and upscale mansion or club interior styling.
