It features a tiny narrow mouth trimmed with two thin underglaze blue circular lines. The smaller upper gourd chamber is painted with palm trees and pavilion scenery for a tranquil aesthetic. A flowing ruyi scroll border wraps around the narrow waist connecting the two gourds, rendered with smooth, delicate brushwork. The large rounded lower gourd body is fully covered with a continuous scene of children flying kites. Multiple young figures are portrayed with vivid, expressive facial features; fine precise lines detail their topknot hairstyles and layered robe folds. The kids engage in playful activities: holding kite strings, chasing each other, piggyback riding, surrounded by weeping willows, garden rockery and grassy lake banks. The layout balances dense character scenes and sparse landscape backgrounds, capturing lively joyful traditional Chinese childhood life. The cobalt pigment is the signature bright sapphire blue favored by Kangxi imperial kilns, layered water separation creates distinct light and shadow for rocks, clothing and foliage, defined by sharp confident brushstrokes unique to Kangxi-era blue and white art. The interior is covered with smooth transparent white glaze over compact fine porcelain body. The unglazed foot ring reveals dry, tight clay with natural aged patina, framed by a double underglaze blue border line. The base bears a two-line six-character regular script reign mark Da Qing Kang Xi Nian Zhi painted in clear cobalt blue, with neat authentic calligraphy matching 17th century standards. Gourd-shaped vases have long been valued as auspicious interior decor, while children kite motifs symbolize flourishing descendants and peaceful years. Fully intact marked examples carry great folk cultural significance and ceramic artistic merit, ideal for museum ceramic exhibitions, private Qing blue and white focused collections and traditional Chinese interior styling.
