Dimensions:Maximum Width 13.5cm(5.31in),Overall Height 8cm(3.15in),13‑14th century Yuan Qingbai glazed utilitarian ceramicCondition & Provenance:The ewer survives complete with its original matching lid. No cracks or chips are present. The spout and loop handle remain solid and intact. Faint age‑related soil patina and minor wear appear around mouth rim and base foot. Fine natural crazing is limited to part of the spout. No repairs or later added glaze. This vessel comes from a private Hong‑Kong‑based collector specializing in pre‑Ming ancient porcelain, acquired via an antique dealer in Toronto in 2020. Fully intact Qingbai ewers retaining their original lids from Yuan period are fairly uncommon. Its solid unadorned form makes it a fine benchmark example of everyday folk porcelain of the Yuan era.Description:This covered ewer was produced at Jingdezhen kilns during Yuan dynasty, serving as a daily vessel for tea or wine in common households. It has a stout bulbous jar‑shaped body with short straight mouth fitted with an original flat‑style lid that fits snugly over the rim. A short straight spout with neat small pouring hole extends from one side, while a sturdy loop handle is mounted on the opposite side for easy gripping. Distinct wheel‑throwing spiral lines are visible across the interior wall, classic evidence of Yuan‑dynasty hand‑thrown production. The whole piece is coated with soft pale bluish‑white glaze with subtle grey‑green undertones. The glaze surface bears gentle luster, with fine spontaneous crazing confined to the spout area. A thin band of orange‑brown iron firing discoloration shows on the exposed rim margin. The base is unglazed flat bottom, revealing coarse but solid pottery body with clear wheel‑cut spiral marks at base center, covered by accumulated aged burial and handling patina. The overall aesthetic is plain and functional without elaborate ornamentation, reflecting the understated taste of Yuan folk craftsmanship. Qingbai wares were widely used domestically and exported overseas in Yuan times, yet examples keeping their factory‑original lids are quite rare. This complete ewer carries unambiguous period features, offering valuable material evidence for studying Yuan‑dynasty daily life ceramics and Jingdezhen export trade, well‑suited for ancient ceramic private collections and folk‑art themed display.
