Dimensions:Mouth Diameter 15.5cm(6.10in),Height 12.3cm(4.84in),13‑14th century Yuan Dynasty Longquan celadonCondition & Provenance:The vessel is fully intact, free of cracks, chips and restoration work. Natural antique crackle glaze appears inside the bowl, the exterior glaze stays smooth with scattered tiny natural brown mineral specks originating from original clay material. Thin glaze along the rim creates faint tan kiln discoloration. The unglazed foot rim bears natural iron‑rust firing patina, no later grinding or re‑glazing, maintaining authentic inherited condition. This bowl was once part of a private ancient‑porcelain collection based in Hong Kong, acquired from a well‑established antique gallery in Toronto in 2018. Well‑preserved large deep alms‑bowl‑form Longquan wares from Yuan period are fairly uncommon, its well‑proportioned shape and soft glaze serve as a key reference artifact for Yuan Longquan daily‑use and religious ceramic production.Description:This deep alms‑bowl‑style large bowl was produced by Longquan kilns in Yuan dynasty. The robust rounded shape was widely used either as a scholar’s desk water‑washer or a devotional offering bowl for Buddhist rituals. It features wide opening with slightly inward‑folded rim, deep vertical walls tapering gently toward the short neatly trimmed foot ring. The design relies entirely on elegant silhouette and rich glaze rather than ornate carved ornamentation. Thick pea‑green celadon glaze covers both interior and exterior with soft understated luster. Fine natural crackle texture develops inside the cavity, while outer surface holds scattered tiny brown mineral flecks inherent to ancient clay, not post‑manufacture damage. The short foot ring is precisely trimmed, the exposed foot edge shows characteristic orange‑rust firing patina typical of genuine Longquan ceramics, the compact dry clay bears subtle age‑related soil patina. Longquan kilns turned out massive volumes of ceramics during Yuan era. Plain unadorned bowls like this perfectly reflect the simple, unpretentious aesthetic taste popular at that time, placing emphasis on thick luscious glaze instead of elaborate decoration. This large deep bowl retains perfect shape without warping, consistent glaze tone, and preserves every key technical feature of Yuan Longquan production including body‑trimming, glaze formulation and high‑temperature firing. It offers meaningful research material for understanding Yuan Longquan product range, secular daily utensils and Buddhist ceremonial wares, and is highly suitable for specialized ancient celadon collections and private art‑space display.
