The Tianhuang stone has dense, smooth texture without impurities. All fine relief carving lines are perfectly preserved, side inscriptions remain crisp and legible, and seal character carvings show no heavy wear. Natural aged patina evenly covers the whole set, with no modern artificial dyeing. This group was originally collected by a Shanghai literati collector, then transferred to a private scholar’s studio collection in Manhattan, New York State, USA in 2015, and released to the market in 2025. Complete matched sets of Tianhuang stone landscape seals inscribed by famous Qing carvers are extremely rare worldwide, and intact groups like this scarcely circulate in North American private collections.Description: This complete set includes four seals carved from natural unshaped Shoushan Tianhuang rough stones. All pieces share consistent warm golden yellow tone, extremely fine and translucent stone texture with dense grain, presenting the signature waxy oily luster exclusive to genuine Tianhuang stone, soft and smooth to the touch. Every seal features shallow relief light carving of traditional literati landscapes, including banana plant cottage, stone bridge pavilion, scholar wandering in mountains, and river boat viewing scenery. The carving layers are soft and subtle, delicate lines depict mountains, plants, architecture and figures, strictly following the classic Qing light relief rule of adapting designs to natural stone shapes and retaining most original stone surface. Each seal’s side bears dated calligraphy inscriptions carved by Wu Zi, with powerful neat brushwork and sharp carving knife skills, matching the style of the seal surface script. All stamp faces are finely carved red seal clerical script, standardized ancient seal layout with balanced density, even powerful lines, consistent carving depth, and natural cinnabar ink staining from centuries of stamping, delivering strong antique charm. The four seals feature varied heights and coordinated matching themes, integrating natural raw stone beauty, delicate relief sculpture and master seal carving calligraphy all in one artifact. Wu Zi was a renowned seal carving master of the late Qing Dynasty, and complete matched Tianhuang seal sets created by him have very limited surviving examples. This set fully retains all original features of raw stone, carving, side inscription and seal script, standing as a benchmark collectible for Qing scholar studio antiques and Shoushan stone collections. It fits top-tier specialized studio collections and long-term museum exhibitions themed on Qing seal carving art, holding tremendous epigraphy research value, scarce investment value of rare Tianhuang stone, and profound aesthetic value of traditional Chinese literati culture.
