This seal group was originally collected by a literati in Jiangnan during late Qing, then entered a private scholar studio collection in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA in 1998, and released to the market in 2026. Complete matched sets of Tianhuang landscape seals carved by famous master carvers are scarce globally, and intact groups like this rarely appear in North American art circulation.Description: This collection includes four free-form seals carved from natural Shoushan Tianhuang rough stones. All stones share consistent pure golden yellow tone, extremely smooth and dense translucent texture, covered with exclusive rich waxy oily luster of genuine Tianhuang stone, soft and tender to touch. Every seal adopts shallow light relief carving themed on traditional literati landscapes with banana plants, pavilions and mountain cottages, strictly following classic Qing carving rule of adapting design to natural stone shape and reserving most original stone surface. The banana leaves are carved with smooth flowing lines, mountains and buildings display soft layered composition, presenting elegant tranquil literati aesthetic. The fourth seal bears carved signature "Guni" on its side, with concise primitive calligraphy and sharp clean carving strokes, perfectly matching the artistic style of seal base scripts. All four stamp bases are finely carved red seal clerical scripts, featuring elegant standardized ancient seal layout, balanced density and even powerful lines with steady mature knife craftsmanship. Natural cinnabar pigment stains accumulated over centuries fill the carving grooves, delivering authentic antique charm. The four seals feature varied heights and coordinated matching landscape themes, combining natural raw Tianhuang stone texture, delicate landscape relief sculpture and master seal carving calligraphy in one collection. Zhao Guni was one of the most prominent seal carving masters spanning late Qing and early Republic of China, and complete matched Tianhuang seal sets created by him have extremely limited surviving examples. This set fully retains all original features of raw stone, carving, side signature and seal script, serving as a top benchmark collectible for Chinese scholar studio antiques and Shoushan stone collections. It fits elite specialized studio collections and long-term museum exhibitions themed on modern Chinese seal carving art, carrying tremendous epigraphy research value, scarce investment value of rare Tianhuang stone and profound aesthetic value of traditional Chinese literati culture.
