Purchased from Hong Kong antique gallery in 1980s.Description:This is a fine Jizhou kiln tea bowl from Song dynasty, representative vessel for the popular Song‑era tea‑whisking culture. It has classic conical teabowl shape with wide flared rim, walls gently tapering down to a substantial foot ring. The unglazed base reveals coarse yellow‑brown pottery body characteristic of Jizhou ware. The whole piece is covered by rich warm russet‑brown glaze. Inside the bowl, seven radial jet‑black splashed patterns spread from center outward, each splash forms fine hair‑like streaky flame‑style diffusion. Matching black splashes can also be found on exterior wall, creating visual harmony between interior and outside surfaces. The glaze delivers soft luster, rim edge shows slightly darker tone. Distinct wheel‑turning marks remain on the well‑fired base. Jizhou splashed‑glaze bowls were greatly treasured by Song literati for tea competition ceremonies. Well‑preserved examples like this one are fairly scarce today. It works great for collection as well as display, an authentic Song‑period tea artifact.
