The structure consists two distinct sections: a wide, outward-flaring shallow tray top with plain smooth glaze surface, connected by a narrow neck to a plump bulbous lower body. The rounded belly is fully decorated with deeply carved relief lotus petals. Each lotus leaf has soft rounded outline, with fine incised vein lines inside every petal, layered and vivid. The carving technique is fluid, sharp and well-proportioned, fully showcasing the masterful carving craftsmanship of Five Dynasties Yue kiln. A short flared foot ring sits at the bottom, marked with three long clay pad firing scars, a classic authentic production feature of ancient Yue kiln workshops. The whole vessel is coated with thick, smooth muted grey-green secret celadon glaze, featuring gentle understated luster and natural tiny brown speckles across the glaze from centuries of aging. Yue kiln is the origin of Chinese celadon ceramics, and secret color wares were exclusively made for imperial and noble families during Five Dynasties. Spittoons were functional decorative wares for feasts, and intact Yue spittoons with complete carved lotus motifs are extremely scarce today. This specimen boasts balanced grand shape, perfectly preserved clear carving, authentic original glaze tone and all standard kiln production marks. Its flawless survival grants it extraordinary artistic value, archaeological research significance and top-tier antique collectible worth.
