Its elegant upright silhouette evokes the figure of Guanyin Goddess, hence its popular name. It features flared mouth, constricted neck, full shoulders, gently tapering body and outward‑flaring foot ring. The outline flows gracefully with perfectly balanced proportions, representing one of the most celebrated imperial shapes of Kangxi era. The exterior is entirely covered in precious doubao‑red copper glaze. The tone is soft and tender peach‑red with natural mottled color variations, widely known as “beauty’s drunken blush”, created by copper‑oxide flux movement under high‑temperature kiln atmosphere. The glaze is thick, smooth with restrained subtle luster. Rim, inner cavity and foot interior are glazed with clean pale celadon‑white glaze, creating delicate color contrast against the red outer surface. The base is neatly trimmed with fine white glaze ground, hosting six‑character Kangxi reign mark rendered in deep blue cobalt with archaic, authentic brushwork typical for the period. Doubao‑red glaze demands extremely precise control over kiln temperature and oxygen level, making successful large‑size pieces extraordinarily rare. Most surviving doubao‑red wares are small scholar‑table objects; an intact example reaching 40 centimeters is quite uncommon in worldwide antique circuit. Doubao‑red symbolizes good fortune and prosperity. As the landmark copper‑red achievement of early Qing imperial kiln, it serves as important physical evidence for studying Jingdezhen firing technology. Highly desirable for grand interior display, it possesses outstanding academic, aesthetic and collectible value and is eagerly sought‑after by North‑American collectors of Chinese imperial Qing porcelain.
