It follows a classic restrained-mouth bulging belly jar shape: wide slightly constricted mouth, short tight neck, full rounded shoulders and belly with smooth curved outlines, gently tapering lower body and a broad well-trimmed foot ring. The overall silhouette is stately and substantial with perfectly balanced proportions, serving both storage and elegant interior display purposes. Thick, even powder celadon glaze fully coats every interior and exterior surface. The dense glaze layer delivers a soft uniform pale turquoise tone with restrained gentle luster, recognized as the most coveted powder celadon shade from Longquan kilns. The glaze surface carries smooth jade-like oily sheen under light, perfectly capturing the jade aesthetic favored by Song and Yuan literati. Natural rich reddish-brown firing rust shows along the unglazed rim and foot ring, an authentic signature feature of genuine Yuan Longquan wares free of modern artificial staining. The jar’s interior is fully glazed with identical powder celadon matching the outside in color and texture, clean and free of glaze pits, firing spots or shrinkage flaws, demonstrating masterful kiln temperature control during production. The base is fully glazed except for the outer unglazed foot ring, with a naturally curved glaze pool at the center accented by natural firing rust marks. The body clay is dense and heavy with neat precise trimming craftsmanship. Large intact powder celadon Longquan vessels from the Yuan dynasty are extremely scarce in today’s market. Plain undecorated celadon pieces like this demanded extreme precision in glaze formulation and kiln heat management, resulting in an extremely low production success rate. Rejecting intricate painted or carved ornamentation, this jar relies entirely on pure glaze beauty and soft balanced silhouette, aligning perfectly with the subtle, elegant aesthetic ideals of Song and Yuan literati. It acts as a benchmark monochrome celadon artifact from Yuan Longquan kilns, carrying exceptional ceramic craft research value, timeless ornamental appeal and reliable long-term investment appreciation potential. Veteran collectors specializing in pre-Ming celadon from Hong Kong and all across North America consistently compete fiercely for museum-grade specimens of this caliber.
