It features a classic wide flared rim paired with a deep curved belly, the rim revealing the iconic thin white “straw line” border formed by thinning glaze during firing. The rounded belly gently tapers down to a thick stable foot ring, delivering a dignified, balanced silhouette with soft elegant curves. The entire interior and exterior are fully covered in premium Langyao red glaze, boasting a rich saturated gemstone crimson tone with subtle fine hair crackle texture spread evenly across the glaze surface. The glaze naturally flows downwards during high-temperature firing, thinning out at the rim to expose clean white porcelain beneath, a signature characteristic unique to authentic Langyao red wares. Firing Langyao red demanded extreme precision over kiln temperature and copper oxide ratios, giving rise to the ancient folk saying “A kiln of Langyao red can drain a craftsman’s fortune”, resulting in very few intact surviving specimens. The base white glaze bears a six-character underglaze blue regular script imperial mark Da Qing Kang Xi Nian Zhi, written in traditional unrefined authentic calligraphy with calm muted blue pigment. The foot ring is crafted from dense solid porcelain clay, edged with natural ancient kiln red protective residue. The red glaze holds soft subdued antique luster, covered in gentle natural aged patina accumulated over centuries. Aside from one faint internal surface crack, its overall preservation quality stands excellent among large-sized Langyao red vessels. As the signature monochrome glaze of the Kangxi imperial kilns, Langyao red porcelain is highly sought after by serious porcelain collectors worldwide. This oversized bowl delivers pure vibrant glaze, complete original imperial mark and flawless primary structure, holding immense academic research value for Chinese imperial ceramic craft alongside elite decorative collecting appeal, standing as a high-grade collectible within Qing single-color glaze porcelain.
