Xuande blue and white wares are world-famous for imported Sumali cobalt pigment, powerful vessel shapes and full layered decorative patterns. Crafted in classic plum vase silhouette, it features tiny short straight neck, full rounded shoulders, tapering lower belly and neat foot ring. The balanced proportion and bold soft contours fully display the grand, solemn royal aesthetic of early Ming Dynasty. Double blue and white circular lines frame the neck and shoulder, a winding ruyi lingzhi scroll band encircles the shoulder with fluid twisting vines and distinct color layers. Below the shoulder lies the horizontal six-character official reign mark in regular script, bold and primitive calligraphy matching standard Xuande imperial kiln writing style. The main belly surface is decorated with three groups of paired phoenixes amid floating clouds. Both male and female phoenixes spread broad layered tail plumes, surrounded by curling auspicious cloud patterns. The composition is well-balanced with fine precise detailing on phoenix feathers and cloud textures. Natural pigment diffusion and silver iron speckles on raised motifs are exclusive physical features of imported Sumali cobalt ore. The lower section near the foot is adorned with standard Xuande banana leaf patterns separated into individual panels decorated with spiral cloud dots, rigid neat lines echoing the shoulder scrolls to form a cohesive layered decorative layout from top to bottom, intricate yet orderly. The whole vase is covered with thick creamy pale blue-white glaze, smooth fine texture with soft muted antique luster, no harsh modern shine. The foot ring is cleanly cut with dry exposed base clay covered in even natural rust-red patina. Surviving intact Xuande official kiln wares are extremely scarce on the antique market. A complete plum vase with original phoenix decoration, authentic Sumali cobalt coloring and zero damage or restoration counts as top-tier imperial Chinese porcelain, highly sought by American museum curators and elite antique collectors. It works perfectly for museum permanent collection, traditional Chinese mansion display and high-end vintage interior decoration.
