Dimensions: Rim Diameter 13cm (5.12in), Overall Height 13.7cm (5.39in), Yuan Dynasty, 13th to 14th CenturyCondition & Provenance: The entire censer is fully intact, free of cracks, chips or restorations. Thick pale celadon glaze covers both interior and exterior, dotted with natural tiny iron speckles and bearing soft antique jade-like luster. The vertical loop handles and three solid support legs retain perfect shape without warping or damage, a faint band of kiln reddening lines the rim where glaze thins. The flat unglazed base features a wide natural rust-brown kiln staining area with dense dry clay body, no artificial polishing or re-glazing to simulate age. Category: Song-Yuan Longquan celadon, pre-Ming ancient porcelain, market destination: Hong Kong. This tripod censer was sourced from the private collection of Leo Li, a distinguished collector specializing in Longquan wares based in Hong Kong. The artifact was acquired at Sotheby’s Hong Kong Ancient Ceramics Auction in 2019, complete original auction paperwork, thermoluminescence dating test report and official national antique ceramic appraisal certificate are fully preserved.Description: This pale celadon tripod censer produced at Longquan kilns during the Yuan Dynasty served as ritual incense burner for sacrificial ceremonies and scholar study incense use. Its silhouette draws direct inspiration from Shang and Zhou bronze ding ritual vessels, combining the solemn grandeur of ancient bronze sacrificial wares with the soft jade texture of Longquan celadon glaze. The main body is rounded bowl-shaped with a wide slightly flared rim, a pair of symmetrical vertical loop handles stand upright on the rim edge, the plump rounded belly is supported by three thick solid cylindrical legs that offer stable balance, delivering well-proportioned, dignified overall proportions. Thick layers of iconic Longquan pale celadon glaze coat every interior and exterior surface evenly, showcasing a gentle muted turquoise lake-green tone with outstanding jade tactile quality. Tiny natural iron speckles scatter across the glaze surface, a natural byproduct of dragon wood-fired kiln production, paired with restrained soft antique sheen and faint micro craze developed over centuries of natural aging. Where the glaze thins along the rim edge, a pale rust kiln reddening band emerges; the base is left unglazed, covered in a broad heavy layer of natural kiln reddening, the pale gray dense clay body matches textbook base characteristics of major Longquan kiln sites from the Yuan period. Yuan Dynasty ding-style incense burners inherited ritual porcelain traditions from the Song era. Fully intact large tripod censers with uniform flawless pale celadon glaze are extremely scarce on today’s antique market. This specimen features precise primitive classic shape, standard uniform pale celadon tone, distinct authentic kiln reddening on the base and zero post-production damage. It functions as a vital physical reference for academic research on Yuan Longquan ritual vessel firing craft, pale celadon glaze composition and ancient Chinese incense sacrificial culture. It holds profound archaeological research value for Chinese ceramic history, timeless decorative aesthetic value for traditional antique hall interior styling and premium collectible value for global high-end Longquan celadon collectors.
