拍品描述

Dimensions: Rim Diameter 13cm (5.12in), Overall Height 5.2cm (2.05in), Yuan Dynasty, 13th to 14th CenturyCondition & Provenance: The entire washer is fully intact, free of cracks, rim chips or restorations. Thick uniform pale celadon glaze covers both interior and exterior with glossy jade texture, dotted with tiny natural iron speckles formed during kiln firing. A faint band of terracotta kiln discoloration appears where glaze thins on the rim. The foot ring is neatly trimmed, the unglazed base edge is wrapped in thick natural kiln reddening with dense dry clay body, no artificial polishing or secondary glaze applied to simulate antique wear. Category: Song-Yuan Longquan celadon, market destination: Hong Kong. This folded rim washer originates from the private collection of Mark Chen, a collector based in Houston, Texas. It was acquired at Christie’s Hong Kong Ancient Ceramics Auction in 2021. Complete auction records, thermoluminescence dating report and official antique ceramic appraisal certification are all preserved.Description: This pale celadon folded rim washer crafted at Yuan Longquan kilns is a timeless scholar’s desk artifact, originally used to hold clean water for rinsing writing brushes, and also served as table display decor or small offering plate. It features a wide open mouth with folded rim, gently tapering wall descending to a narrow raised foot. The silhouette carries clean, streamlined lines with balanced, soft proportions for understated elegance. Thick lush pale celadon glaze fully coats every inner and outer surface, delivering consistent muted lake-green tone with remarkable jade-like luster. The translucent thick glaze developed subtle fine craze over centuries of natural aging. Tiny scattered iron specks across the glaze surface are an authentic natural byproduct of wood-fired dragon kiln production. Thin glaze on the rim and foot ring edges reveals organic rust-colored kiln staining with smooth natural color transition, no artificial pigment added. The base foot is sharply trimmed during production; the outer ring is unglazed with reddish clay wrapped in even kiln reddening, while the center base remains fully glazed, a textbook base craft characteristic of major Yuan Longquan kiln sites. Plain Longquan washers were mass-produced in the Yuan era, yet flawless specimens with consistent premium celadon glaze and clear authentic kiln patina are quite scarce today. This washer features standard canonical shape, even warm pale celadon glaze, zero chips or cracks, and naturally aged base wear. It stands as a vital physical specimen for academic research on Yuan Longquan daily scholar ware firing techniques, pale celadon glaze formulas and traditional Chinese literati study culture. It holds significant archaeological research value for Chinese ceramic history, timeless aesthetic value for classical Chinese study room decor and high-end collectible value for global premium Longquan celadon collectors.
