The applied, molded, carved, and pierced floral decoration remains strongly defined, with minor age-related wear visible along selected raised and openwork areas. The egg-white glaze has a mellow, softly lustrous surface with a pale bluish-white cast and natural pooling around relief and recessed details. Minor staining and traces consistent with long-term handling and display are present. The broad unglazed sanded base shows pronounced circular trimming marks, old earthen deposits, staining, and natural contact wear. From a private collection in Illinois, United States, with a history of family ownership overseas.Description monumental 47 cm covered meiping is striking for the way it transforms a restrained monochrome glaze into an exceptionally sculptural decorative surface. The vessel follows the classic meiping profile, with a small mouth, short neck, broad rounded shoulders, a body that gradually narrows toward the foot, and a substantial base. Its original matching cover is fitted with a pointed jewel-shaped finial, giving the vessel a complete vertical silhouette and a particularly formal presence. The entire piece is covered in a softly toned egg-white glaze with a subtle bluish cast. Rather than relying on painted color, the decoration is created through relief, molding, carving, and openwork. This allows light and shadow to do much of the visual work. The glaze collects naturally around raised leaves, floral edges, carved borders, and recessed areas, creating a range of soft white and pale blue-gray tones across the surface. The cover is decorated with applied scrolling floral ornament. Vines move continuously around the cover, supporting raised leaves and blossoms, while the jewel-shaped finial above remains comparatively simple and clean. That contrast between the compact ornament of the cover and the more elaborate decoration of the body helps establish a clear visual hierarchy. Across the shoulder, the relief becomes increasingly dense. Molded and applied floral and bird-related motifs spread over the curved surface, with blossoms, leaves, and scrolling stems built up above the glaze.
