Dimensions 14 cm (approximately 5.51 in), Width 30 cm (approximately 11.81 in); Yuan Dynasty, 13th–14th centuryCondition and Provenance cover and box retain a close-fitting inner-and-outer rim construction, and the piece remains overall in well-preserved condition. The blue-and-white, copper-red, applied, and pierced floral decoration is clearly defined, with minor age-related wear visible along selected raised and openwork areas. The glaze has a naturally mellow surface, the cobalt ranges from softer blue to deeper indigo, and the copper-red blossoms show natural tonal variation from muted reddish brown to warmer copper red. The broad unglazed underside shows a central circular opening, visible trimming and finishing marks, old earthen deposits, staining, and long-term contact wear. From a private collection in Texas, United States, with a history of family ownership overseas.Description impressive Yuan-period covered box measures approximately 11.81 inches across and has the scale and visual presence of a major tabletop display object. The form is broad, low, and circular, with a domed cover fitting neatly over a substantial cylindrical lower body. What immediately sets the piece apart is the complexity of the cover, where painted cobalt, copper-red relief, pierced openwork, and modeled decoration are combined into a single elaborate surface. The center of the cover is organized around four large shaped floral sections arranged around a smaller central medallion. Within each section, flowering branches are built up in relief and partially pierced through the ceramic body.
