Measurements:Mouth diameter 24.2 centimeters /9.53 inches,Height 12.5 centimeters /4.92 inches, produced 14th CenturyCondition & Provenance:The bowl is fully intact without cracks, chips or restorations. The gorgeous plum green glaze survives all over the body, only the unglazed foot rim bears natural yellow-brown burial patina. One tiny original kiln speck sits inside the bowl, which is a natural mark from firing. This piece was previously owned by a long-established Hong Kong private collector specializing in Song and Yuan Longquan celadon. It was acquired by a veteran Asian antique private collector based in Manhattan,New York State in 2015,and has been stored in temperature and humidity controlled storage ever since purchase.Object Description:This large conical bowl covered in premium plum green glaze is a representative heavyweight artwork from Yuan Dynasty Longquan kiln, serving both imperial display and maritime export purposes back in the Yuan era.It adopts classic conical shape with wide flared rim, smoothly tapering wall and tiny compact foot ring. The seamless curved silhouette is extremely hard to achieve during firing for such a large-size vessel.Thick, lustrous plum green glaze fully coats both interior and exterior. The glaze layer is thick and jade-like,carrying even soft emerald green tone with subtle gentle sheen, showing the iconic jade texture of Longquan celadon.A faint carved lotus sprig decorates the bowl’s center, the shallow carving lines hide beneath glaze and only stand out under proper lighting, this subtle carved decoration is a signature craft of Yuan Longquan wares. The foot ring is left unglazed with solid heavy clay body, the rim of foot ring is covered with aged yellow-brown earth stains accumulated over hundreds of years, and the transition between glaze and clay is natural and smooth.Longquan plum green bowls were major export goods along the ancient Maritime Silk Road in Yuan dynasty.Pristine intact specimens wider than 24cm with hidden carved patterns are incredibly scarce on today’s antique market. This piece delivers top-tier value for ceramic academic research, grand interior display and high-end Asian antique collecting, its glaze color, shape and condition rank among the finest surviving Longquan celadons of its period.
