拍品描述

Measurements:Overall height 22.8 cm / 8.98 inches, maximum width 16 cm / 6.30 inches,10th‑13th Century Song Dynastycondition & Provenance:The ewer is fully intact without cracks, chips or restorations. Spout and handle are original matching components. Glaze remains well‑preserved. Vertical melon‑rib ridges on the body stay sharp and distinct. The foot ring is neatly trimmed, natural aged soil patina and wheel‑throwing marks are visible on unglazed base, free of modern grinding or acid‑washing alteration. This vessel derives from an old private Song‑period porcelain collection in Hong Kong. It was acquired by a private East‑Asian antique ceramic collector in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2024 and stored in a temperature‑humidity controlled dark storage environment.object Description:This large yingqing melon‑ribbed ewer is an important Song‑dynasty vessel for wine‑serving and tea ceremonies at banquets. It features flared mouth and tall straight neck decorated with two faint horizontal bow‑string grooves. The bulbous main body is segmented by vertical raised ribs forming full melon‑lobed contours. A long elegantly curved spout extends from one side, opposite a broad arched handle with a small loop hole at upper end for cord‑tying a lid. The substantial ring foot grants the vessel stable stance. The whole piece is covered with creamy pale yingqing glaze, even and lustrous with soft gentle tone. The base is unglazed, revealing fine pottery body with authentic wheel‑throwing concentric marks and ancient burial soil patina, keeping original excavated condition. Melon‑ribbed ewers were technically demanding to produce in Song times; integrated spout‑handle‑body structure was prone to kiln‑warpage. This well‑proportioned complete example with all original fittings and crisp ribbing demonstrates exceptional Song ceramic forming skill. It serves as significant physical reference for researching Song wine‑tea culture and Hutian‑type daily‑use porcelain, possessing great display and collectible antique value.
